In order to maintain our mailing and emergency contact information, please inform the attendance office at (801)264-7446 if you have a change of address or phone number.
If your domicile residence (where you physically reside, not where a relative resides) is not, or no longer, in the Murray City School District or Riverview Junior High School boundaries, you will need to apply for a special permit from the MCSD office in order to stay in the school. Special permits are also required if a student lives in the MCSD boundaries but does not reside with their legal, court-appointed guardian. Special permits are granted on a space availability basis and require certain academic and behavior expectations (see contract). Any individual found of falsifying address information will be withdrawn from the school and required to register at their neighborhood school or another school of their choice.
The Murray City School District requires all non-resident students to reapply for special permits when transitioning from elementary school to junior high school (6th to 7th grade) and from junior high school to high school (9th to 10th grade).

To view bus boundaries and stops, enter your address at the following link: MCSD Bus Areas and Stops. If you have additional questions or problems, please contact Megan at the district at (801)264-7410.
*Please note that at the end of the school day, the bus waits seven minutes before departing the school to take students home. -

Course Selection: Course requests take place every February for the following school year. New students fill out the class request form when a student is first enrolled in the school. Students are not guaranteed to get the courses they request. Requests are filled randomly by a computer program with core courses given first priority and electives second.
Course changes: Students may make changes to their requested courses, at no charge, up to the second-to-last week of the school year. After the school year has ended, students may request to make a schedule change up through the first week of each semester (new students have one week from starting classes to make a change). Course changes are not guaranteed and are based on class size and other factors. Students must fill out a Student Schedule Change Request From and return it to a counselor by the end of the first week of the term. Emails and phone calls will not be used to change a class.
Students who are not initially registered for a particular course(s) MAY NOT enter and generate credit for the course after the first six school days of the term. COURSE CHANGES MADE AFTER THE FIRST SIX SCHOOL DAYS OF THE TERM FROM ONE SUBJECT TO ANOTHER UNRELATED SUBJECT MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF CREDIT. Day 7-10, the student may receive a “W” and no credit will be generated in the class to which they transfer. Course changes made after the first 10 days of the term from one subject to another unrelated subject will result in an “F” on the transcript, and no credit will be generated in the new course. Students requesting a release period must do so within the FIRST FOUR DAYS of the quarter. Students who are granted parent release time MUST vacate the building and school grounds during their parental release time. The school will not provide supervision for students during release time and trespassing may be enforced. After courses for the semester have started, students desiring a course change should consult with the teacher and their counselor for approval. Dropping a class and requesting parent release is considered a schedule change.
To change a course, you must fill out the Student Schedule Change Request Form and both parent and student must sign the form.
Course changes may be made for the following reasons:
-to change the course to an entirely different course
-to change teachers (when possible, requests must be made by the parent to Admin.)
-Special circumstances based on communication with counselors and Admin.
Students may not change their schedule to get a class with friends or to change lunches.
Lunch changes are granted based on the circumstances communicated with the Admin and upon Admin approval.

Online Schools, a short list:
- Canyons Virtual Academy (CVA)
- Mountain Heights Academy
- Provo eSchool
- Summit Academy High School (SAHS)
- Utah Connections Academy
- Utah Online School (UOS)
- Utah Virtual Academy (UTVA)
Online education is a great way to do school if the traditional school building is not for you. Did you know you can do some schooling online and some in school?
In Utah, you can take up to six online classes and still have one or two classes at your school. If online school is something you are interested in, you can learn more about online schooling options at OnlinOnline schools.utah.gov
Online classes through these schools will replace classes taken at Riverview and cannot be used to earn extra credits to graduate early; please see your counselor for exceptions. Summer classes are considered a part of the fall semester. A student wishing to take online classes through any of the schools listed on the state’s website would need to register on their own (parents can help of course). If you choose to have all classes online, you would need to go to the online school’s website to register for school. If you want a hybrid model with some classes here at Riverview and some online, you would need to go to SEATS to register for the online classes and register for classes at Riverview by contacting the school. For directions on how to use SEATS, go to SOEP

Are you planning to go to college? Do you have enough money to pay for college or would you like a little aid? Paying for college can be a little hard on the wallet, just as knowing where to start can be a little hard on the brain. So here is a little guide and some resources to help you start planning.
Keys to Success: The purpose of Keys to Success is to motivate students to unlock their future by connecting them with scholarships, internships, and opportunities that match their career interests. Click on this link to learn more: KeysToSuccess
SAVE: Open a savings account and start putting some money away for college. You can find a guide to saving for college at my529 and look into opening a Utah Education Savings Plan called a my529 plan.
FAFSA: In order to qualify for student loans, financial aid, and even some scholarships, you need to fill out the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You will need your parents help with this, and you will need their previous years’ tax information. Go to Fafsa to learn more and to fill out the FAFSA. It is always a good idea to fill out the FAFSA whether or not you think you will qualify for financial aid. Colleges also use your FAFSA information to determine the financial aid they may offer you.
Scholarships: Each college or university offers scholarships based on academics (grades and often ACT/SAT scores), skills in specific areas (academic fields, sports, arts, dance, etc.), and/or other areas specific to that college/university. Contact the school’s financial aid center for information on needs-based scholarships (FAFSA is required).
The Opportunity Scholarship replaces the state’s Regent scholarship. This scholarship is achievement-based and requires students to complete three advanced courses; one in each of the following areas: English, Math and Science.

Native American Scholarships There are many scholarships and financial aid options specifically for Native American students.
